- Item 3565130 15-Jan-90 14:06
-
- From: D5295 Reseach SW Design, D Goldman,PRT
-
- To: MACAPP.TECH$ MacApp Technical
-
- Sub: Name the Guerilla!
-
- It looks like there *is* going to be a MADA-sponsored system for community-
- developed MacApp enhancements (subclasses, building blocks, etc).
-
- We could just call it the "MADA Class Library," but (a) you don't have to
- belong to MADA to contribute, (b) you don't have to belong to MADA to benefit,
- (c) that name fails to indicate the voluntary bottom-up distributed shared
- development aspect of the whole thing, and (d) the initials don't spell
- anything funny.
-
- We could maintain the connection to my recent memos by calling it the "Guerilla
- MacApp Class Library," but that implies an element of left-wing subversion
- which isn't present, and objection (d) still applies.
-
- So, I would like to announce the official:
-
- N A M E T H E G U E R I L L A C O N T E S T
-
- Send your proposed names for this project to me (D5295) and, if you wish, to
- MacApp.Tech$. Assuming that at least a few of you respond, I'll either pick the
- winner myself or take a vote over MacApp.Tech$.
-
- Which brings us to the official:
-
- P I C K A P R I Z E F O R T H E W I N N I N G E N T R Y C O N T E S T
-
- Should the winner receive more than immortal fame? Let me know your thoughts.
